Exclamation Replacing Factory Fit Stereo - Alarm Worries

I am planning on replacing the factory fitted stereo in my girlfriend's '99 clio and was worried about how the alarm might react one I remove the old stereo. If I disconnect the battery, could this also trigger the alarm. My feelings are that it will but any help/advice/stories would be so much apreciated.

If the alarm does sound, will it reset ok one the batter is reconnected and the new stereo is in place?

Cheers,

Matt (definately not an expert in clios!)
