Auto Climate control Problems

Ever since I bought the 1999 Regal new, I have been very disappointed in the Auto Climate control system, which I might add was a specific option requested.

This system has infrequently heated or cooled to my satisfaction. I compare it to the way my 1994 Ford Taurus worked. The Taurus worked like this (the more proper way). If it was hot out with very warm interior conditions, the A/C would automatically turn on full force at minimum temp to cool as rapidly as possible them progressively slowing the fan till it maintained the preset temp. During very cold conditions, the fan would not come on till the coolant temp was warm enough and then it would spew out the heat as hot and fast as it could till the ambient temp increased and then the fan would slow as the A/C would. It would kick it up or slow it down to maintain.

The Buick has always been mediocre compared to the Ford (By the way I have always been a GM man). In high heat conditions, I can drive for thirty minutes and the car is still warm inside. The A/C started high but slowed and usually is still cranking pretty hard trying to cool it down. The cold always seems to be working hard to warm up...... can dirve for 30 minutes and still I'm not comfy.

The service center - within the first year tested for output and said all is well and the system is working the way it is suppose to......... DOES ANYONE REALLY KNOW WHETHER THIS IS TRUE? The erviceman also told me if I wanted to get it colder or warmer, I should adjust the temp to the lowest to get colder and then raise it after it cools, or to the highest to get it warmer and then lower it.............. Why then do they call it an AUTO CLIMATE CONTROL?

I would appreciate any assistance .......... Thanks,

Scott
