Question Urgent: to all Fieros experts, I need your eyes

I have never owned a Fiero and don't know what models and looks are available out there.

There is a Fiero GT for sale on eBay and the seller doesn't give out much info, and then it is hard to get hold of him. So, I need your help before the auction ends. From the seller, it's a "4-speed tranny". It has a V-6 according to the pictures, not much of anything else.

Posted along here is its picture. Please tell me what model year I am looking at, the pros and cons for the model year Fieros, etc... (Pix is 250K jpeg, takes a "few" seconds to complete.)

Your help is greatly appreciated.

You are looking at an 1985 Fiero Gt. I bought one new off the showroom floor. I loved the little car. Mine was an auto tranny though. I never had any problems with the car except for the usual little twirks. Nothing major. The V6 is the same as in the 86, 87, & 88 models. The 85's had alot fewer problems than the 84 4 cyl. THey were a big improvement, but each year they fixed a few more of the quirks. Good luck and enjoy. I now have an 87 GT 5 spd that I bought new. I traded the 85 in on it. I have also owned a used 84 2m4. I think I will always own at least one fiero. One side note: Once you get the Fiero "fever".... It will last a lifetime... Ha ha.. So get ready to learn all about them.

Yup thats a 85 GT that is the only notchback GT in 86 they came out with the fastback GT in 86.5 they gave it a 5 speed in 88 they gave a model called the Forumla, that is a GT in notchback clothing - also the 88's had a much improved steering/suspention/braking systems and it pretty much eliminated the bump steer you get with pre 88 fiero's also no 84 models came with 6 cyls

the 4speed came in the 85, 86 and some of 87 as far as I knew. Mid 86 they started putting in the Getrag 5 speeds.

What is your preference, 4-speed or 5-speed? And reliability?
