Ibuki; Mazda

what is everyone's opinion on the Miata replacement, the ibuki? I think it is awesome. Aesthetically speaking, it is much nicer, and under the hood, it can smoke a miata. Although, just in the last generation of miatas, they started turning from a chic car into a little bit mroe of a bad ass car. So what do you all say? Ibuki good? Or scrap it and bring back the miata for gen. 4?

they should scrap that and continue to release the miata. mazda has nice design going through all of their vehicles right now and i wouldnt want to see them mess it up. the newest miatas are damn nice and very fun to drive.

They should leave the curent miata and put a wankel engine in it. That would be cool.

look what im saying is that wankel is a great engine and that mazda should put it in all its cars. teh mazda could get the RX-8 hi power 250hp engine and the RX-8 could then get a 3 or 4 rotor rotary. would that be cool or what.

The miata is one of if not the most reliable cars out there right now. "If it's not broke, don't fix it"

So how exactly is a rotary going to make the car funner? Maybe if you know about rotaries, but not many people do.

I'm sure miata sales would drop if they put a rotary in it.

even if the new renesis engines have way better reliabuility than the rx7's people will still not buy them with the wankle engines... why? because mazda used to put rotor wankles in all their cars and at that time the design was still fresh and mazda was the worst JAPANESE manufacturer when it came to japanese cars reliabuility.... they were known to have the displacement of a 4 cylinder, have the power of a 6 cylinder, but eat gas like a 8 cylinder ...and if u havent noticed, rx7's aren't known to have the best reliabuility, mostly because of the abuse put on them, and when they are abused the rotors tips ware down and then the engine doesnt work.... and nobody wants a non working engine, do they

ok, here is a rotary engine... as u can all see... right assuming we all kno how it works, it spinns in cirlces blah blah blah, but do to its shape it causes more friction between the sidewalls and its corners... last time i checked, sliding friction is dependant on 1) the force pushing them together, and 2) roughness of the two objects... correct? a cylinder engine has less friction because of the shape enabling it to slide easily, but with a rotary engine, the corners are smooth but sharp meaning a more jagged edge, this causes the edges to ware down more easily than a cylinder engine.... once the edges ware down enough, when the air is compressed, as seen on the right side of the picture, it may leak, thus causing the engine not to work properly...

i am confident that the new renesis engines have improved very much on this fact but most people know of rotary engines to be unreliable and therefore will not buy them... which is most likely the reason why mazda wont put rotaries in all of their cars..

Let me re-iterate...

Re: Ibuki; Mazda

ME? well look i know about there unreliability. And in the end its all a personal choice. I Like the rotary. Thats why i find it cool if mazda stuck it in all its cars. Also we are looking at preformance. Ferraris and Lambos did were not exactly reliable in the past either ( i notice how they have more preformance, but i think the engines are stressed equally). In the end its a personal choice. I choose a rotary because its diferent and unique. Also because it can create as much power as an engine with triple its displacement. Anyways dont want to argue anymore. I see ur point and i take them into account, It doesnt change my view though.
