ServiceTire Monitor Message

I just put some 22inch wheels on my 2004 Escalade EXT yesterday my tire size is 305/45/22. After riding down the road for about a mile I get this service tire monitor on my message screen. I think the original wheels and tires have some sort of pressure sensor, is this the cause of the message? If so can it be bypassed? Also I have alittle tire rub when I turn hard either way. If anyone has had any of these problem and know a solution please respond to this thread. I am using the spacer that came with the wheels.

I own a 2004 also and there is a way to get the monitor reset and new settings programed in to handle 22inch wheels. I have 20's on mine and the tire monitor had to be reset several times by the dealer in order to keep the message off for good until a real problem. I hope this helped.

My local Chevy/Cadillac dealer tells me that the tire pressure monitering sensors are on the back of the valve stems.

If that is the case and you put 'regular' valve stems back in your new wheels, the system isn't picking up a signal from your sensors.

Yep, what they said; I got the same message after I swapped out the stock wheels/tires for 22-in. wheels/tires...except since I didn't have the tire shop relocate the sensors to the new set of wheels (I purposely did this since I plan to swap the 22's for the OEMs during winter, and I would rather live with the "Service Tire Monitor" message rather than have to have the sensors swapped out and reprogrammed 2x/year.

As far as the rubbing issue with your 305-45 tires--I assume that you purposely chose to go with the 45-series instead of 305-40, so I won't question you about your reason(s) for doing so. I will say that I believe the solution (other than going with 305-40 instead of 305-45) is to trim part of the lower portion of the wheel well covering/shield--a few other people in the same boat as you had similar problems and that is what they did to alleviate the rubbing.

I just bought a 05 denali xl and have 20 inch wheels that I will swap for during the summer and oem for the winter. is there a fuse that can be pulled to disable the service Tire Monitor system?

i just bought a 2004 escalade esv, and i get the same message "service tire monitor" even with the truck off i get that message. Because of this message i have a problem with my factory/navigation radio, when i set the AVC(audio volume control) option, my volume level goes crazy, goes up and down every other second it suck. Because it does not detect your tires it does not know how fast you are going, so it does not know what volume to se it.

Does anyone else have this same problem.

Your audio volume control issue is not a result of a malfunctioning tire pressure monitor system. The tire pressure monitor sensors are part of the valve stem- on the backside, as was already stated in a post above. The only function the tire pressure monitor serves is exactly what its name states: it monitors tire pressure, not wheel speed. Problems can arise when a tire shop installs new wheels and tires for you and either A: don't reinstall the tire pressure sensors into the new wheels, B: break the wheel speed sensors during removal and don't do anything about it, or C: don't relearn the sensors when they have been reinstalled to your vehicle. You can also have problems if a shop rotates the tires and doesn't relearn the tire positions.
