S10 ECM RESET/HO2S Problem/Rant

Hi,
My truck is a 99 S10 with 30,200 miles. I have a check engine light on and went to my local autozone to get the ECM error code. The code was P1133 HO2S Insufficient Switching Sensor 1/ Bank 1 Fuel Control Shifted Lean (the same code tripped twice the guy said). The light came on at a time when the rpms were pretty high, but it was not appropraite to shift. Is is possible that I can reset the ECM and the error light will go away and stay away? Is this error code a hard set code that needs to be cleared with a special OBDII scanner? If not how do I reset the ECM in this truck? I have disconected the ground on the battery for half an hour and this did not work. Conversely, is the O2 Sensor definately bad when this code is tripped? Might the problem be a clogged fuel filter or gummed injector? I hate to change the o2 sensor if this is not the problem. Also if I change the o2 sensor with the code autmaiclay clear or do I have to still take the truck to the dealer to reset the ECM?


I hate ECM. I understand the need to control emissions, but get angry at the complicated nature of autorepair and all these sensors that seem to always go bad and trip error codes. Heck I even had a stereo trip a code once that needed to be cleared at the dealer. Seems like a quick 35 bucks to me....I also wonder if my emissions gains are outwieghed by the others in my town who drive huge empty SUVS to the fast food restaurants , then set in the drive through for ten minutes, burning gas, etc..
