Supercharger setup

Ive got a 1990 civic 4door, have been toying with many ideas as what to do with the motor, there was b16, then vtec d series, build up the d15 ect but now i have some ideas for a draw though supercharger setup. The idea was to use a dpfi manifold, with the FI and throttle removed, a toyota 1gze supercharger sitting on top drawing though an SU carb. I was planning on running around 6psi. Anyone have any input into this?

Re: Supercharger setup

how about... belt drive... throttle linkage.. fuel supply (a weber SU sidedraft carb wont like the psi currently coming out of the fuel line very much )... and well.. ignition timing... as the advance is ecu controlled... using carbs is fun tho... supposedly running 2 x 2 bbl sidedrafts on a honda engine can produce a lot of power and sounds utterly amazing at least within the realm of civic-tuning (relatively speaking y'know)

Re: Supercharger setup

yeah it sounds like it could be pretty fun... i take it that you are planning on cutting the manifold apart so that you are using the runners and part of the plenum base for the SC to mount onto?

how serious are you about this particular config ? still just conceptualizing ?

the sidedraft SU would sure be fun but keeping the EFI can potentially make things much easier ... especially since running the OBD0 ECU you can use something like www.TurboEdit.org to manage your fuel enrichment and boost ignition retard.... perhaps you can just hack up a MPFI manifold to accept a SC and TB ... and basically make your own JRSC style unit... or you could just buy a JRSC or similar unit in the end it may work out to be cheaper and easier than hacking away so much of the existing "infrastructure" in the vehicle ....
