Should I take a risk?

Hey,

I live in ontario Canada, and will turn 17 soon. I will have my full liscence by march and am looking forward to getting a skyline imported from japan. I'm currently speaking with representatives from www.jns-imports.com.

I just need any of your opinions on my situation. First of all, money is no problem, I have found a 1989 R32 nissan skyline GTS-t type M turbo for $9000 canadian with tax and import fees etc. What do you all think of that price? (Mileage is about 100 000 km) My dad is worried that we cannot trust this site : "You can't just give some 'internet company' 9 grand and expect a car to show up on your doorstep" those were my dad's words. I really dont believe that they are a bullshit company.

As well how would the insurance be if i were to get the car registered under my parents name and me as a secondary driver? If i were to get in an accident would it cost a LOT of money to order parts?

Is it hard to drive on the right hand side of the car and shift with your left hand? Especially for some one who has only been driving for 1 year (me)

If i get bored of it, would I be able to sell it for aprox. 15 grand and expect people to buy it and would any one even consider buying a RHD skyline?

I need all the info i can get on my situation, i really really love skylines but i really need accurate information.

It'll be lower than getting it insured with you as the primary driver. Even then, depending on how your insurer works, you still might not like the rate.

At first I would have said "Define 'a LOT of money,'" but now that I think about it, the answer is probably "Yes." The parts will likely be a bit expensive on their own, depending on where you get them. On top of that, where are you getting the parts from? If they're from Japan, expect to pay through the nose.

It'd probably be a bit hard, especially with things like toll booths and drive-thrus. I won't even get into the issue of shifting.

I'm not too sure about $15k. It probably depends on who is looking at the car. If they are a Skyline fan and don't care what they're buying, then sure. More educated folks might decide they'd rather have a GT-R instead. If you try hard, you might be able to get a little more than you paid for it.

how is the reliability on 1989 gts-t skylines? you cant even see them untill they arrive on your doorstep, so how can you be sure that they wont fall apart in the next week and screw u over cuz you have on warranty on it?

man i would never import a car thru internet ill take ur dads advice and in aus u can get a 1993 r32 gts with
50,000 km for 12k aus that would be about 7,500 us u can work out the canadian dollar but it sounds a lil expensive to me???
