Question What do you look for in a good auto web site?

Hey guys

I am just looking to get some feedback.
What makes an auto web site a Good or Great auto web site?

I will help with some suggestions:
Variety in Content
Specific Content
Appealing Design
Ease of Use
Flash usage
Forums
Advertisements
Links
Photos

You get the idea. I know that some sites are specific to what they talk about so if you are thinking along those lines, just skip to the appearance aspects.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it!

Original content, not press releases.
No Flash.
Minimum ads, people are trying to read.

Re: What do you look for in a good auto web site?

For me personally, I like to view a site that's too the point. Less is more. Not too much flash, some is ok depending on the application. I also like to see a page that's not crammed with pics...thats why I did pic slide shows on my personal website.

The number one thing a abhore,, despise and loathe are pop up ads. Some people get a discount on hosting if they do pop up ads....for the love of Christ, spend a few extra bucks for a REAL host.

Kat, the thing about popups/popunders is that they are very tempting to run once you're accepted to a ad company like FastClick. The CPM (profit) of popunders is three times that of banners and skyscrappers.

Is a navigation bar a good idea? I am setting mine up, first one, and looking to get it about as user friendly as possible. Any suggestions?

A navigation bar is the most important part of any web site! Without one there is no way for the user to get from place to place on your web site.

I would also suggest a CMS (Content management system) for your site. It makes updating and archiving 100 times easier. Check out and test drive a number of them here: http://www.opensourcecms.com/
