Question Help! Which car for beater???

Hey girls... and guys of course

i need help... i'm going to get s2k around may or june, but at the mean time, i don't have any car cuz i sold my lude... so i need a beater til summer. however, i don't wanna keep that beater once i get my s2k cuz i don't think i wanna spend much on the insurance...

my question is, which car do you think i can sell back easily (relatively)?
pls vote cuz your vote will definitely help me determine which one i should get.

Thanks a lot!!

oh yea, the Nissan SE-R Spec V only has 9k miles on it

If it's only till the mid summer, I'd go with the cheapest but most reliable of the cars in the poll. Probably the LS Teg maybe... You'd probably also want something fun, quick and sporty.

Re: Help! Which car for beater???

I say go with the LS cuz i'll be easy to sell later because of the newish year, and many ppl love honda/acuras so it will be easy to find a buyer. although the GS has the leather seats, the difference in years between the GS and LS make the LS easier to sell back. the ser spec V may have a less demand that the integra. the civic.....er iono they are ok...

Re: Help! Which car for beater???

Since it is only going to be kept till this summer, why not get a car that is a little older? Besides your only going to keep it for a few months. If your choice is a Honda/Acura, it will last you way past summer considering it did not have any major problems with the previous owner. Save you there a bunch of money on buying the car and insurance. Good thing for Honda/Acura is that the resale value is high.

Re: Re: Help! Which car for beater???

Look, if you want a beater...why are you worried about what car you should get? Just go buy the cheapest and most reliable car that you can find. That way, you wont have to worry about selling it. Keep the beater for a winter car or just a second car. It'll be handy when you start modding your s2k and something breaks, plus...the insurance will be dirt cheap.

thanx people for the opinions

my main concern was about reselling the beater cuz even in summer, i was sure that my budget would be tight and i can't even spend 3k for the beater... but i was extremely lucky and got an s2k (just today) w/o having to buy a beater... that saves me from the stress of getting rid of the beater in the summer

Hmm, what color because I saw some hottie today (LA area) driving a brand new '04 Suzuka Blue S2k. This was in Pasadena though... hehe

Anywho, congrats on beating the beater and going straight to the S2k!

Re: Help! Which car for beater???

Congrads on your S2K. I got the 1st one off the tk at the dealer in our area in Oct '99 and I LOVE it! My husband had a prelude at the time & we just thought V-tech in it was fine. When mine goes into V-tech it pins your head to the hd rest. What a Ride! I got mine Brand new & we weren't suppose to hit V-tc till we put 600 mi on it. We had to go riding all evening after work for a while cuz my H just couldn't wait to feel it. I have 25K on it now.
ENJOY!

Re: Help! Which car for beater???

thanx maggie, i'm definitely enjoying ! the only thing is though, i don't seem to be getting the hang of shifting from 1st to 2nd smoothly... when i'm driving my ti, shifting is no problem but w/ s2k, i have that problem often and i'm hating myself for it. i hope i'll get use to it soon.
btw, any mods on urs?

Re: Help! Which car for beater???

gnushit: i don't have any plans for it right now.. i'm just keeping myself up w/ my new and increased insurance.. lol.. but maybe over the summer, i'll be able to do a coupple of things.. 1st, i want to change the suspension, the original one is good but kinda ride a bit rough for me, then the x-brace, intake and exhaust (can't decide which one yet), and body kit is gonna be last

Re: Help! Which car for beater???

You'll get the hang of it. I thought going from a 5to 6 speed would be nothing, but it took me awhile to hit the right one of the 2. They're pretty close together. There are days when I don't drive as smoothly from gear to gear as normal, but it's me on those days.
I've left everything totally original on mine except the metal gear shift...OUCH! I now have a leather one from an (NRX?) My husband got it for me. Being the 1st one in I was told that the more original I leave it the more valuable it is. Around here it's one of the few never been wrecked ones....knock on wood.

Re: Help! Which car for beater???

you'd get better gas mileage on a civic, and it's so easy to sell them. they are cheap and easy for maintenance and the resell is better than the nissan
