Friday night cruise

Tonight I met up with the Columbus crowd and we cruised around the freeways for a while.. The racing group comprised of me, two 1.8 GSR's, a '93 1.7 GSR (92-93's had B17's), an '01-'02 WRX, a Camaro SS, some newer model Volvo, and a '94 Civic hatch. We would line up and go on the third honk.

First race was the '94 hatch and I had no idea what was under his hood. By the looks of his head lights in my rear view from a 3rd gear 60-90mph run I'd say some minor bolt-ons with a stock engine.

Next up was a white 1.8 GSR who's a friend of mine and works at a reputable local speed shop. We went three times, and were dead friggin even from 60 well past 100 each run. The car that stayed in front was whoever hit the gas first. He has i/h/e, cam gears, lips/skirts, and she's dropped.. beautiful car.

After that was the '93 1.7 GSR. I kinda jumped the gun by darting while on the third honk, but let off a split second and got back on it to sorta make up for it, but I still pulled way ahead. I think all he had done was an intake and exhaust, but the beauty of her made up for it. Clean black Integras simply rule.

The guy in the Volvo wanted some next . I didn't really wanna race him because he and the '94 hatch kept going at it, and he struggled there.. I gave it a go and saw headlights in the rear view again.

Now for the ugly.. we lined up in three lanes from a 60mph roll. Me on the left, WRX in the middle, SS on the right. The soob honked three times and I gave it all I had. There's nothing worse than watching other cars easily pull forward while giving it your all . I was pretty happy though, the WRX almost instantly got two cars on me from 60 to about 100, then I held him there until about 120 at shutdown. The SS was 2-3 cars in front of him by then also, which I never really even expected to hang with. I think the soob had a few goodies under the hood, but nothing major.

Well that was my night.. I kept launching at 60 in 3rd because that's 6000 - 6100 rpms for me, vtec . Sorry for the long post, but I love freeway cruising with a bunch of other cars. Just wanted to give details. I never did race the third GSR mainly because it was a little crowded with all of us lane-hoggers. Every time a normal car would come up on us we'd chill and let them by, and would shut down way before coming up on slower traffic. None of us have the urge to be a menace..
