separate remotes for one system?
hey my 98RS came with a factory installed alarm/keyless entry system. called AUTOMATE 3+. (if any of you have that) i lost the first remote, and having a second one for my parents just in case would be best. Automate seems to have closed down or something, because 1-800 number is disconnected, and the site is down. ANYWAY. so it's a basic square thing with two buttons, I & II. i also have another one that i found in the house...looks really nice and new, and it was one fat button with a little green button called PRESTIGE (i don't think this matters, but i'm giving this to you anyway). i was wondering if i could somehow transfer the info from the automate to the prestige...like with my parent's RX300, the garage opener is set on the visor, and you basically hold the garage remote button down and the button on the visor at the same time. i tried doing this, but the result was my alarm going off, as the result of my holding down the I button for 5 seconds. do i really need another remote from this company, or dealer?
#2 (this is getting long, so thanks a lot for your help) i don't think the factory got the hatch opening thing installed. when i press unlock/un-arm, both doors open, but the hatch doesn't unlock. i was wondering if and how i could get this to unlock the hatch? (i haven't found anything in the articles) so all i'm using now is the I button and the II button remains useless. thanks a LOT guys, much appreciated Kendrick oh yes, and this is a 98, so if you it doesn't have a hatch release, there's a lock and a handle for you to open it, unlike the 94-97 integs. just in case you needed this tidbit of info thanks again |

BTW, no, you can not transfer codes. Even if you did, the Prestige unit would never work because it doesn't have rolling codes like the DEI one. |
