Need dealer help w/part purchase

I want to buy a replacement keyless entry module (or reciever) for my 95 Grand Prix GTP, and none of my area dealers know how to look it up. I'm not having any luck with giving them my money. If anyone on here works for a dealer, if you PM me with the relevant info I'll buy the part from your dealership and have it shipped to me. I'm desperate at this point, as the wife is pregnant (read: impatient) and has laid down the law to get this thing fixed pronto!

Thanks!

Re: Need dealer help w/part purchase

any dealer (competant dealer) should have this item i ordered them for a caddilac.
all you normally have to do is to bring it in to them if you have one or tell them the vin and make and model of your car and they will order one and you would have them program it. if they do not do that or refuse to look for one i would call other gm dealerships in and out of the area tell them what you need and they should give you a part number bring that to your local dealer

Yeah, you'd think. I can't get a parts guy that can find the thing on his computer. It's frustrating because I've been a motorcycle parts guy for 10 years, and all these guys I'm talking to seem to be brand new at it.

Have you tried a salvage yard? Thats where I got a receiver for my 92 and it was only $15. Considering one of the remotes cost about $90 from a dealer I'm assuming the receiver will cost a lot more. Don't recall any model #s on the receiver. I ended up getting a similar looking one from an early 90s Blazer and it worked fine. I just asked the guy working there if I could hook it up to my car to test it before I bought it. Are you wanting to install this yourself?

Re: Need dealer help w/part purchase

That is funny, there is a site (http://www.worldparts.com) where you can put your question in plane english with your VIN number and they will get what you need at the best price. This is like an auction site with the twist that you post what you want to buy and they will bid on the item for you. I got my keyless entry transmitter there for just $45 including S&H to Puerto Rico
