I might be buying a new 04 Z71 5.3 tomarow.

Do they have the knocking problem fixed .

Any one hear anything at all??

First not to sound like an ass but before asking question do a search. If you would have your question would have been answered. But yes they have fixed it. The problem was fixed on the 03 models.

In 2003 they redigned the pistons and added a polymer coating to fix the 1999 to 2002 5.3L knock. With any motor, there is always a chance of motor knock. I have heard of at least one 2003 5.3L knocking, but my 2003 5.3L doesn't.
