Civic 2001 Hybrid

supz,
has anyone tried a B16/B18 swap in the 6thgen Civic?
I have a 2k2 Civic EX Coupe. I want more power. What type of engine setup will be the best for this car?? What motor is in the RSX Type R or Type S?

I don't think you can swap in B16/B18;'s etc into a 7th gen (01+) civic. The RSX motors are K20s.. Look in the FAQ at the top of the page for the link to the thread with motor threads.

I doubt it, the new civics are ODB-3, correct? If so, dont even bother with it...

The B16/B18 will drop into a 5th gen+ without any mount kits, etc...

THe new CRV engine is bad ass... 160hp, 160ft-lbs...but the intake manifold and exhaust manifold are on different sides of the engine bay than that of a reg. civic.

All the Kseries i-VTEC engines are mounted this way, making it VERY difficult, and a waste of $$$ to try and swap one in...

People...let's try and stay focused on the question. I believe he was asking about swapping a B16 or B18 into the 7th Gen Civic.

You can't do that.

However, you probably will be able to swap the RSX engines and the new Si engine into your car.

As for serious performance, give the developers some time and I'm sure some things will come out. You might want to look into nitrous...I've seen a few 7th Gens with N20, so that will give you some power.

If I recall, Tom's makes some very nice parts for Toyotas. Didn't know they made anything for Hondas...but it's probably not a bad buy.

Re: Civic 2001 Hybrid

ok well folks, heres the thing, u can swap a b16 or b18 into the 7th gen civic, im actually getting ready to put a turbocharged b18 on my 2001 civic lx. the b18 works with the new axles, and wont require any suspension work like the h22. what u dont want to do is get a k20, with those ull have to reverse the entire engine compartment seeing as how the transmission in the k20 is on the drivers side, and then ull need mount kits, and ull have to reinforce the engine compartment in certain places so it can handle the weight of the engine due to the location of the new mount kits.
