Re: I-6 Stroker Kits or your own combo ?
well the 258 is basicly a factory stroked version of the 232. Other than that I dont think there is much you can do with it.

Re: I-6 Stroker Kits or your own combo ?
there was a web site that had a stroked 258. Used a 4.0 liter crank and rods and stock 258 pistons. The pistons is a little lower but that lowers the compression for the increased displacement. If I remember right the compression was a little higher than the original 258.

Re: I-6 Stroker Kits or your own combo ?
hum, 258- 4.2liter ... using a smaller crank would de-stroke it and the compression wouldnt be as high... or from my experience thats what it would appear. I currently have a 258 (not in a jeep, in a gremlin-x) that has 9.5:1 compression stock so stroking it and raising the compression would almost make it not streetable on pump gas.

Re: I-6 Stroker Kits or your own combo ?
the stroke in the 4.0 is longer than the 258. They use shorter rods than the 258 also.Thats why you can use the 258 pistons with the 4.0 crank and rods.Piston is down around .020 if i remember right. Can find lower compression pistons for them. I have a J10 i tough about doing this too but decided to put in a Chevy 402.

Re: I-6 Stroker Kits or your own combo ?
Im sorry I am backwards. It was stroking the 4.0.Shorter stroke but bigger bore than the 258. Its actually the 258 crank and rods in the 4.0 with the 4.0 pistons. Sorry.

There used to be one for the 258 that stroked it to about 300 cubic inches but I dont think its made anymore.

Re: I-6 Stroker Kits or your own combo ?
with a 258crank and rods and something like a .030 bore you can get it to around 290 I think. I just found out that VAM (mexican AMC) made a 282 I6 that was a 258 with 232 pistons (3.92" I believe), but it only sold in mexico in small numbers. It boasted a nice little 190hp though, a nice big increase over the 130 or so numbers put on the 258.

Anyone know what you can do with the new 4.7L H.O. V8 in a Grand Cherokee, cause I just got one and Im interested in what I can do to modify it, for the future cause right now I just have catback exhaust and intake kit.
Thanks for you help and input.
