1996 Geo Metro Hatchback

Can someone please help me? I have a 1996 Geo Metro Hatchback that suddenly this morning has no dashborad lights, no back lights and the "Check Engine Soon" light is on. I do have headlights, brake lights, blinkers, hazzards and high beams. I have checked the fuses (OK) I checked the batter (OK) and I am at my wit's end. I don't have a lot of money and a dealer is telling me that it will cost $300 to $500 if I am lucky. I need my little Geo for transportation. It starts up every time, runs good, gets me to work, back home, shopping, Please help. Thank you for your time.

check your ground wires. Also, unplug some of the wiring harnesses that go into the fuse box, and make sure none of them are burnt.

Another thing to check are some of the relays.... they are generally inexpensive, and if you can find the one(s) that have to do with your problem, and have them checked.... could be the problem... good luck
