Post Neon lights on Bikes... yay or nay

Ok i was just wondering what everyone thinks about neon lights on bikes??? I know they can be pretty ricey on cars but are they still ricey on bikes? I've seen a couple and dont think they look bad makes the bike look kinda crazy i think. I'd say if hidden welll and in the right places they look good but anywho just want to get a opinion cause i was thinkin about doin it. If anyone has put them on a bike is it just like puttin em on a car?

Re: Neon lights on Bikes... yay or nay

If they are well-wired and placed in the right location, it can look "okay" at night. In PA any sort of neon lighting is illegal on a moving vehicle, so anything like the gheysauce windshield washer lights and even under-body neons are illegal unless you're parked. This pretty much deters people b/c it is sporadically enforced, so you gotta watch what you do with your ride...

My personal take, as I said, is that it can look okay, but most people who do it take it overboard...

Re: Neon lights on Bikes... yay or nay

I say they are GAY. Its more for guys who just cruise on their bike down a busy street to attract attention. Just my opinion.

As much as they hate them I cant believe they have made laws against them. Nothing better to do.

ive seen bikes driving around on back roads at night with neons on and the neons make it much easier to identify the size and shape of the bike and whether, its a car with a headlight out.

Re: Neon lights on Bikes... yay or nay

i personnel opnion on them is like on cars if put in the right place and you cant see the bulbs they look great but if the bulbs are hanging off and you have wires showing and more lights than an airport then its tacky and cheap.

I say no way. The only light to add on a bike is a wheelie light. Of course thats just me.

A wheelie light is good.Ithink that neon is ok if thought and moderation is put to use.I don't think that they should be used for all cruising. There is a time and place for everything.they should be for showing off.

Don't mess up your bike with stupid looking cheap neons if you decide to go through with it. I think they do look gay though.

I dont understand why they are illegal. Wouldnt more light on a car/motorcycle be safer? It makes the car/motorcycle more visible.

Re: Neon lights on Bikes... yay or nay

Well the state or government will make anything illegal that is popular. But I think the main reason is because IT IS distracting to other drivers and I SUPPOSE it can cause an accident but what ever. I hate neons and think they are gay but no way should they be illegal.

Yeah it COULD be distracting. But they also COULD save lives as well. I havent seen a bike with neons and i cant find a pic of one to save my life so I dunno if they are "gay" or not.

Re: Neon lights on Bikes... yay or nay

If its a street bike then i dont like the look, but on the other hand it would attract more attention to you, and anytime you can get a driver to SEE you you lower the chance of them hitting you.

But if its a show bike then yes, i think neon is a good look.

I plan on building a show bike this summer, and im thinking of using neon.
