I have a grinding hum from the rear, I think its the differential. I just checked the fluid level and its fine. Any thoughts? Could it be U-joints?
Is it something I can fix, How much/how hard to replace differential? Can I improve on the stock one? Any thoughts are appreciated... Thanks, Rileysdad |

Re: Hello, I Own a 94 rwd Astro
It may indeed be your differential, had a couple vehicles my family owned have the differential go out on them and it sounded like metal rubbing against metal. That said, take it to someone who could fix it ASAP because once a differential locks up, you dont move.

Re: Hello, I Own a 94 rwd Astro
Have the same yr.rear drive bought used fromgood friend. Rear end was quiet-- had everything serviced including trans & rear end. Started making whine and dicovered rear end was dry. Soo much for that trans shop! Living with it now. Original owner of shop died and son took over-- rep of shopgone down the drain
