'94 3000 Gt

I'm 17, and I wanna buy a 3kGT so bad. I found a 94 in the paper with 99K miles on it for only 4500. Good or bad deal. My mom says I shouldn't get it though because my grandmother just gave me her 95 Neon and that I knew that that car was well taken care of. So.....

Re: '94 3000 Gt

First off you need to find out if its a TT, Vr-4 and AWD. Then you have to ask the gyu how well he has taken care of it (how often did he change the oil, any problems with it now...) then u need to kick yourself in the ass for thinking about picking a Neon over th 3KGT. LOL, just playin man, but yuo cant just assume that it's in the worst condition, and u cant assume that its in the best either.

For that price, its probably an SL (or its one of the cheapest 94 VR4s I've ever seen). At your age, you're better off staying with the Neon for a few years.

Hey man don't diss us young ones. Lol. I got my SL when I was 17. A VR4 is a lotta car for 17, but an SL is just right. But yeah, $4500 sounds reallllllly cheap for a 3000, so you should be careful. At that price I could almost say that it would be a base base SOHC QT model, so make sure it at least an SL. Other than that, take it for a ride and see how it feels, look under the hood to make sure there's no oil on the engine and that it sounds right. Check the tranny 'cause 3k's are notorious for their trannies going. And you could even go as far as to take the VIN and do a history check on Carfax, or hit me back and I can run it through for ya 'cause I got a subscription with them. But yeah, a 3K is deffinately more fun than a Neon at 17, so good luck

I will do. But hey, the Neon was free. So you can't beat that. Unless it was a free 3000 GT.

Hey, can you still run the checks on the cars?

Take the neon, save your money, and then buy a VR4 if you are planning on racing. Because you'll be kicking yourself when that VR4 whizzes past you in its all TT AWD glory.

Otherwise, the SL and Base are still very good looking cars if you just want something to show off.

3kgt's are high upkeep cars that cost alot to maintain. Might as well get the best, or not at all.

I very much disagree with that statement, not everyone wants a VR4, or can afford one. And if you arent going for 1/4 miles times the base and sl are still fun, and still pick up girls. If you are going for 1/4 mile times, why in the hell did you pick this platform? lol

That being said, I love my VR4.

Well, I did say "SL and Base are still very good looking cars if you just want something to show off."

Personally, I think the TT AWD VR4 is a very competent platform for racing. With larger turbo's and intercooler, and properly applied boost, the 3kgt can create alot of reliable power. An AWD platform is unmatched in short distance racing, and if you really wanted to do 1/4 drag, a RWD conversion would be simple.
