Help Problems w/03 Astro
05 PMPossible EGR problem Maby
GMMerlin... Have 93 astro V/6 Z in VIN # w/114,000 was working fine until the first hard rain couple months ago... Then As I was driving engine cut out. Pull over and waited a few seconds and started back up but engine acted like it was misfiring then all of a sudden it would smooth out and run OK. This happened on an off several times and would appear to do so ONLY when it rained and I would pull over, wait a while and re-start When symptoms continued I changed out cap and rotor and thought that that fixed the problem. However the problem continued up to and including today when it WOULD NOT start at all....turns over OK but NO START. She gets plenty of fuel. but the symptoms still continue. Checked the various posters on the forum and noticed that YOU had advised someone that the problem is vacuum and to check the EGR. and another response stated that astro's have a problem with the EGR fouling. Could I be experiencing the same problem with my EGR. This problem has never happened before since the Van was new. I am disabled and need this van for medical appointments and would appreciate a response from you. Thanks David. PS. The darnd thing would not start in am yesterday 01-14-04 so had brother take me to Md appointment When we returned 4 pm I wanted to see if the Van would start and wouldn't you know it started and ran but still gave the same problem as before - sounded like misfire and would not idle then would shut down then restarted no problem - then idled bad again as though it was misfiring then smoothed out and ran fine after that. Have not tried it yet today 01-15-04 but with my luck - or should I say un-luck - after posting this update it most likely will start and run OK but I know that the problem will return |
