2000 suburban power steering

The power steering on my 2000 suburban has just quit working. The fluid was all gone so I've replaced it. The fluid doesn't seem to be going into the system. Could there be a vapor lock or something similar or is the pump bad? How can I tell? Help.

Leslie

put a screwdriver between the pump housing and pulley and see if you can pry forward on the pulley, if so then the pump shaft is broken, replace the pump with a new unit not rebuilt or you might encounter the problem again
