Why does everyone apologize for...

...making long posts?

I'd think that since the point of posting is to communicate, the amount of text needed to articulate one's point is irrelevant.

...provided one has a point...

I wish more people would apologise for their poor spelling, grammar and punctuation on here. Trying to enterpret the 1337 n00bs annoys the fuck out of me.

Damn straight! I don't mind the long posts as long as it is interesting enough to keep my attention. But people who use poor grammar and spelling and such really irritate the piss out of me.

So you won't mind the fact that I tell you that it is "don't" not "dont"

I fourth that.
Spelling, grammar, and paragraphs...oh yeah, and they need to start apologising for typing in all caps too!

It doesn't bother me either. The apology can be compared to telling a friend a problem or long story and at the end saying thanks for listening, and you're sorry for taking their time. Even though, you know you don't have to say sorry it still comes out.

Not sure if this made any sense.

Re: Why does everyone apologize for...

I, first off, sincerely apologize for my poor typing skills. I am often (especially lately, as a few of the mods here can tell you) typing on AIM, MSN Messenger, answering phones, and trying to get in my two cents before the topic become irrelevant.

I hate it when people try and type in ebonics and slang. "I 0nd joo" and crap like that. To is a word, as is too. 2 is a freaking number. I am too old to even understand half the crap some of these 13 year old kids post. I come to AF to learn about cars and to share what knowledge I have been able to accumulate in the 10 years I have worked on vehicles. I come to OT to try and keep up with what is going on around me as I work too much to have a life.
As for most of the people here, thanks. My short time here has been cool, and I plan on sticking around for a while. For those who come to flame, lie and talk crap, I notice you don't stay around for long, and those who do get few to no responses for their threads/lame reponses to others threads.
Sorry for such a long answer.

That is because recently someone pointed out that the edit button was hidden underneath the White-out on my screen.
Maybe if someone could make me a glossary of stupid kids terms "ie. j00z, or in my case even n00b. I am lost when it comes to 13 year old kid lexicon. (Any of you thirteen year olds want to know what "lexicon" is just PM me )
