Deep Cat Back
im lookin for a good catback exhaust for my 96' sx,
and i HATE those stupid sounding TIN CAN exhausts on all the ricers around here I kno that i have a 4cyl and really deep tones are impossible to come by, but can anyone recommend some cat backs that have a good tone to them....the deeper the better, something thats very close to a 3" piping, and doesnt have the kind of tail pipe with an attachable muffling thingy....i want it to sound good all the time....but not have huge attention grabbing sound.... is it possible.......?

Re: Deep Cat Back
well first of all are you going turbo? cuz if you are don't get the 3"... its a waste the 2.5 or even the 2.25 inch apexi would be fine... but remember apexi isn't the only way to go you can also just get a muffler off ebay.. take it to mieneke (spelled right?) or any other shop and have them bend 2.5" piping for your car... my friend's "cat-back" system this way was only like $275 including shipping of the muffler and it sounds nice....

Re: Re: Deep Cat Back
sound is all on the muffler (DUH)
have a shop bend pipes for u whatever diameter u want then get a flowmaster muffler, trust me, even on 4 cyl its DEEP. deeper than all exhausts mentioned above

Re: Deep Cat Back
well an exhaust does get to a point where its too deep... I just want a deep hum out of my car so its not uber loud during normal driving, but I guess its just preference

I don't know how deep it is, but I was looking at exahausts for the S14 and I came across the Invidia full titanium exhaust system. The piping is 3 inches I think, and the tip is 125mm(5 inches), and full titanium exhausts sound absoulutley beautiful. Only catch is that its like 650$. Totally worth it though, especially cause titanium warps to cool colors and is extremely light.
