Question Eclipse GS-T or Civic Si?

I was wondering if a stock GS-T would beat a stock Civic Si type R. What does type R mean anyway? Im new to the car world and just wanted some answers. Also how much do GS-Ts cost. I would like a used one for under 10,000. ONe more thing is the GS-T a rear wheel drive?
THanks
PL

Ok, I see you are in the states, so to let you know, there is no such thing as a civic si type r. The type r civic is not sold here. If this is a friend of yours with a civic si, he may have the type r engine. A gs-t is front wheel drive. You can find one for under $10,000. And finally, if driven right, you shouldn't have much trouble with an si, even if it has the civic type r engine.
