Starting my first model...
Revell VW Bug Convertable.
Ok. I guess I just need some basics. How do I start? I know I need to take the pieces off the plastic trees. Do I sand off the nubs? Now do I am guessing that next you put everything together, after that you prime everything? Then what? Creative masking and spray painting? N00B ALERT! N00B needs help!

Re: Starting my first model...
Just follow instructions and keep us posted with pictures and plans, so some of us can correct you or give you some ideas.

For starters you should read the How To and FAQ sections , that should get you started in the right direction. Then if you have some questions
post em up.

Re: Starting my first model...
before you just start cutting stuff off and glueing it together .. get an idea of what you want the model to look like ... then read over the instructions ...
if you want to do something different to it ... check through the faq or how-to section and see if there a post telling about what you want to try .. if you dont find one .. ask us we dont mind answering new questions ... being your first model i would recomend just building it the way the manual says ... most of the time you will paint the parts in peices .. or sections .. then put it together and touch the paint up where you glued it ... |

The only parts you'd primer are the ones you would spray with a can (or airbrush). Small parts like engine & suspension pieces can be painted with a brush, and without primer.
I'm sure you picked up all kinds of tips & advice from the FAQ's. Just take your time & have fun We're here if you have any questions or need some opinions! |

BE READY FOR MISTAKES!
but just try to learn from them and do searches! searches are your best friend for any question you have. It's like a library in here, so don't always rush to the librarians...look around first.

I'm sure you know that your first won't look like the one's you have seen here, heck some of us have been at it a long time and still are amazed with what others are dong. Just take your time and you will eventually get there. Like they have all said we are here if you need us, but keep it simple and have fun! Afterall that's why we do what we do
