Re: Magazine...

import tuner sucks...its articles are not very interesting and they focus more on girls then guys. if u want a real car magazine get Modified Mag...it doesn't have all the crap that Import Tuner has and it is written alot better then sports compact car magazine. if thats not your style get Turbo Magazine or Super Street. Turbo has full dyno charts and alot of parts on their project cars which can be very useful, while super street is just plain funny as hell. the editors are goofballs that make alot of funny comments while maintaining all the info / specs / details about the fetured cars. only problem with those mags is that they are most parts and not actually cars and articles but that can be looked past. so i say pick up the modified mag, they have a special section just for DSM's [they are currently working on a Talon] were they mod dsm cars, they also are one of the few mags that feature rotary engines. well thats just my opinion.

Re: Magazine...

they have plenty of pictures, and step by step instructions on installation. if u decide not to get modified i recommend super street, they have more tuts on how to install parts but they dont really focus on dsm's, more onWRX's and Supras.

Re: Magazine...

There is no tuner mag that focuses mainly on DSM's. It seems that there are very few "true" tuner articles on DSM's. Mostly Hondas and Acuras.

But from time to time you can get a good article or photo shoot on DSM's.

Heres a list of mags that are out there and you can pick up at a corner stor.

Import Tuner www.imorttuner.com
Turbo & High performance www.turbomagazine.com
Super Street www.superstreetonline.com
Sport Compact Car www.thismagsucks.com
Modified Mag www.modified.com
Hot Compact Import www.hcimagazine.com
Import Racer www.importracer.com

Thats all i can think of right now.

Re: Magazine...

modified is definately the best [cost 3 bucks more for year subscription] and they cut the crap unlike other car mags. super street has alot more "girls" and "installing tutorials" then modified, but modified is just better. so just go out and read both and decide for yourself.

Re: Magazine...

I used to read turbo, but at some point there was just nothing left for me to learn from the magazines. But they are a great way to get started and get introduced to a lot of the concepts we discuss here. I persoanlly would subcribe to any of them, but anytime you need a mag, go through them all at the news stand and buy which ever one has DSM stuff, intersting articles, story on some car or part that interests you, etc. The only magazine I keep handy is the october issue of modified, with my car in it lol

Re: Re: Magazine...

i have a small addiction to all of those mags... i have sub's to all [and Playboy for the articles, of course] except import racer ... OCT Modified? i'll have to see if i still have it laying around... i've noticed that DSM's aren't thought of too much as imports, or at least they don't show up that much in the import scene, or it could just be me... but yes, Modified is my favorite because of the DSM tuning section, although Import Tuner is doing Power Pages on a DSM... also, because the EVO VIII is kicking the shit out of EVERYTHING [!!!] our beloved 4g63 is getting major press coverage and a lot of atttention, and that is never bad...
