Angry 2000 Sierra ABS problems

I have a 2000 sierra and my ABS light just came on. Is this covered because i heard there was a huge recall for defective ABS pumps. Is there anyway i could fix it or what. I have 22,000 mi on it and already it has had washer fluid pump gone out and the 4wd switch. Hopefully this problem doesn't cost much or anything, i still owe $11,000 on it yet.

Thanks

Abs

Well like my post states my ABS light came on too and I have only 10,500 miles on my 2000 sierra. When I first brought it into the dealer they told me that alot of ABS wheel sensors were going out on the 2000's. They said if it was that they would replace them under my extended warranty. Sorry I can't be much help.

I have a 1999 Sierra PU that has a similar problem. Today the ABS light came on and the sound of a motor could be heard running under the truck. I turned off the ignition and the motor kept running. Called my dealer and the mechanic told me it was a stripped gear in the ABS motor. He said it has not been the first he has seen and he is a small dealer. He disconnected a wire so the motor would not run down my battery. Now I have regular brakes and the ABS and brake light are on constantly. He told me a new part was around $899???!!! The truck has only 45,000 miles on it. No extended warranty but it seems like this has been a recurring problem on Sierra's. Is there any recall or chance that I could get GMC to pay for the repair? Thanks for anyone that can shed some light on this.

Angry

I too have a 99 Sierra and the ABS and brake light have come on in the last week. It has 60000 miles and the brakes seem to work fine.

The Question I have is the truck was in a bad accident last June and it cost them $17,000 to fix, and they replaced the frame and was wondering if I could get insurance to fix it because I have a life time warranty on the work that was done and they did remove all the brake equipment and install it on the new frame. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do...tips, pointers, anything to go to the delaer that fixed it with?

Come on guys I'm looking for input!!!!

ABS problems

I had the same thing with my 99 Sierra 4x4 ext. cab Z71. two days after I bought the truck used with 80k on it the abs pump started to run full time until I pulled the big abs fuse in the under hood electrical center. After much research and phoning around I found out that these trucks quite often have the abs module malfunction. What I did is go on ebay and found a used abs pump with module that was tested and had warranty and changed it myself in about 1 hr. Boom, all was fixed, the abs light went off and the pump stopped running. That was 2 years ago now and all is still well. The abs has been tested many times and works perfectly. I still check ebay every once and a while for this parts and there are always lots on there for about $100US. Hope this helps.
