Ecotech

Just wondering what year did GM start putting the 2.2 ecotech engine in Cavaliers?

Last thing that I heard was that the Ecotec was released in mid-year 2001, shortly after GM released their supercharger kit for the 2.4 4-cylinder.
I do know of some mid-year '01 GM J-Bodies with Ecotecs.

the ecotech motor is thought to be a chevy thing but its really not.the motor was first desingned to be utilized in saturns and then crossed over

Also, it was introduced in 2002 1/2 for the cavalier. 2002 started off with the Z24 sporting the Twim Cam, but 2002 1/2 saw the abandonment of the Z24 for the LS Sport which came with the ecotec.

2003 saw the ecotec become standard.
