98 neon sunroof

greetings...

My girlfriends 98 neon has a sunroof that seems to be sticking and wont go back, person she bought the vehicle from says they had the same problem w/ it twice before she bought it, however no way to contact this person any more, thinking it must be something easy to fix as he replaced it both times himself, however dealership is trying to say the entire sunroof is bad and needs replaced...i say horse pucky on that one...any one have same problem and or know how to fix it???

any and all help is appreciated..thanks

Unhappy

Had the same problem on my 98 Neon Expresso @ 36,000 mile just after the warranty expired. It got stuck open as if it was jammed (pushed it back in place by hand). The motor works fine. My dealer also wanted to charge $1,000 to change all the hardware. My solution was just to keep it closed. Have never gotten a chance to take it to a repair shop for a second opinion. I believe you should get a second opinion.

That happened to my 98'. I had tot take all the hardware out and something, still haven't identified it was stuck in the cable- when I beat the track on the ground it dislodged and now my roof works fine.
