97 ZR2 4x4 button problems

When i turn the key the 4x4 buttons do light up. After it is started the 2 wheel button is not on(think it is blown bulb) I go to push the 4HI button and it doesnt do anything, no light no click. I can get it to go into 4Lo by putting it into N and then hitting the 4Lo button. When i do this sometimes no light come on, sometimes both 4HI and 4Lo are on and sometimes only 4Lo is on. And the 4x4 4Lo does work. I hit the 2wheels drive button and it goes back into 2 wheel drive. Any ideas. i havent tried unhooking the battery yet.

just a quick note, If you light bulb does blow, you will NOT have 4wd, this bulb actually completes the circuit, kind of a pain. I had mind go out while 4 wheeling and got stuck many times. I think it is a safety for stupid people, that way you can not keep it in 4x4

Re: 97 ZR2 4x4 button problems

It could also be your transfer case that controls your buttons and controls the transmission to go into 4x4. My family had a 2001 ZR2 Chevy Truck and it went out and had some of your similiar problems. Check this if the battery thing doesnt work.
