HELP!!!! V-tch swap with Cali Emissions
Ok first of all this car isint mine, its at our shop we have never messed with something like this. The motor was installed at another shop then went threw 2 other people before it got to me,now that is out of the way here is the prob.... The car is a 92 Prelude S all wheel steering that had a 2.2 in it,the motor that was installed is a H22A 2.3 DOHC V-tec But has Cali emissions and I live in West Virginia so there is a big prob. They sent the Cali CPU with it but dosent run hardly at all,the dealer dosent even no what CPU to use and the shop he bought the motor from is screwing him over. Also the trans that is in it is the stock trans that was originally in it factory ( all Wheel Drive ) and people are telling me that the motor is to wide for the car.Not sure about that one but we are haveing probs with it makeing a bad bearing type of sound comeing from trans on Exceleration and Deceleration.Im looking to find what CPU to use and harness also any info on the fit with the trans would be helpfull. Thanks for any info

H22 is a 2.2L. did you get an h23 put into there? the engines should be swappable. btw, it's ECU not CPU. Yes you have to have the h22 ECU with the h22 engine or vtec will not work.

The owner of the car say's the motor in the car now is a H22A (2.3 DOHC) and that is use to have a 2.2 non V-tec.Can't find what computer it takes and dealer dosent no. BTW the dealer call's it the CPU so you will have to talk to them about that. Thanks for any help.

The H22A is a 2.2 liter and the H23A is the 2.3 liter...look at the motor from the front of the car and look down towards the tranny, it should be stamped with which motor it is...H22 uses the P13 ECU and the H23 uses the P14 ECU

in order for this car to pass cali emissions it's going to need the 37820-P14-A11 for the H23 2.3l non vtec or the if it's a H22 you will need a 37820-P13-A11 from a 93 prelude vtec those are current # from honda but if it's a H22 motor it's going to be fun getting it to pass as vtec was not offered in 92 ,but it most likely will pass the tail pipe but not the visual so it would have to go to a referee station and would need all the correct emission stuff off a 93 vtec in the car unless the guy doing the test doesn't notice the motor change
