d15b2 headon d16a6, wierd motor problem, mpfi swap

hey , i took a 92-95 d16 w/ vtec block and put a 88-91 d15 1.5 non vtec head on it. I then did the mpfi swap to it succesfully .I used the 1.5 timeing belt sence the head is a 1.5 . The only thing i can think of that might be my problem is that i axidentaly used a 1.6 head gasket becouse i was told it was a 1.6 head but it is a 1.5. The problem is that when its runnning it sound like it has a miss like a spark plug or wire isnt fireing, but the strange part is that when i went to take off the spark plug wires one at a time it to see which one was bad(brand new plug wires) i took out #1 and it died! it should run off of 2,3,and 4 roughly. Then the other wierd thing is that it runs the same with plug wires 2,3and 4 off at the same time, still running like it only has one bad plug? New spark plugs! With the plugs out of the head they all spark and in order from right of engine to left 1,2 ,3 then 4. Thers no way it stays running with 2,3and4 plug wires off still reving like it only has 1 bad wire. The only think i can think is the raised compression wich is only like 9.7 to1 instead of 9to1 becouse of the different head, makeing it keep going like a diesle ? WTF i need help bad, know of any automotive forums where mechanics hang out that work on cars so much know about this weird stuff, ima try puting a 1.6 head, gasket, andtimeing belt on it but this is still wierd.

why would you put a d15 head on a d16 vtec block anyway??? Whats the benefit?

Re: d15b2 headon d16a6, wierd motor problem, mpfi swap

maybe possibly higher compression due to a smaller combustion chamber? im not to sure what benifits of a non vtec head on a vtec block would be. as far as running like you say it is....i cant see a 4 stroke engine running on 1 cyl. my guess would be dieseling, but does it run on when you cut the engine off? how does the cap and rotor look? was the mpfi swap running right to begine with? theres a possibility the mpfi conversion has been done wrong, like possibly the injectors arent firing right or something to that sort.

Re: d15b2 headon d16a6, wierd motor problem, mpfi swap

also , it is now a d16a6 88-91 non vtec head on it, the d15andd16 heads are the same , and they raise the compression on a d16z6 block from 9.0to1 to 10to1, also i didnt wana have to convert the car to 92-95 specs with a vtec ecu and distributer and what not if i kept the vtec head, just bought the motor for the block, d16s have forged cranks, its hard enough to get the mpfi swap done
