1990 civic sedan distributor

Im looking for anyone that might have a distributor for a 1990 honda civic sedan 1.5. can anyone help. I was told by a garauge that my distibutor was bad. but I also want to make sure, is there anyway that i can find out what the code from the check engine light means? before I buy the whole distributor?. the symptoms of my car is this after about 15 miniutes of driving my car my check engine light comes on and my car starts to lag real bad like i can't get it to go. if I turn the car off , it becomes hard to start intill the engine gets cold agian. can anyone tell me if that sounds like something the distributor will do?
thanx
Jonathan

Re: 1990 civic sedan distributor

it might be just the ignitor, which is inside the dizzy. they were recalled by Honda and if yours is original, I am surprised it still works at all. your symptoms are common. That part itself is probably more than $45 (for OEM, but about that at PepBoys or Autozone,etc..), so I might hit up girlsrace2 for her part..that is a great deal!
Any DX or LX sedan, DX hatchie, or DX CRX should also have the d15b2 engine, so you can scavenge parts from them too. Watch out for the Si, HF (CRX) or EX sedan...they have the MPFI motor, which is a little different but I don't know about the dizzy differences, but I think the actual ignitor should be the same across them all. I am sure someone can tell you exactly which ones match and which ones don't

DOHC ZC, I,H,E, urethane bushings and mount inserts, rock chipped hood, some rust, stock steelies, nice comfy Integra seats, and the A/C works! What else could you want from an 18 year old car with 241,000 miles? Working on getting the Si tranny in now
