Question ERG gases not working, check vacuum!?!?!?

i have my grandmas old lebaron. it is quite the cherry ride!! except, it quit on me a few weeks ago, in the middle of the road. i found out how to use the computer by switching it on and off x3. the code was 32. it said "ERG gases not working, check vacuum" and it also stated "computer didn't see changes in air/fuel ratio when ERG was activated- check valve, vacuum line and ERG electrical." it is all greek to me. please help!!!! what is the ERG, can i do this myself? the car has not started since!! thanks a bunch!!!!!

Has the vehicle quit on you again? More that likely you have a vacuum leak. If no vacuum leaks present at the hoses, then it is possible the egr valve pintle is leaking and causing your problem.
The egr is located on the passenger side of the engine towards the firewall. If the vehicle is running rough, spray the bottom of the egr valve and if the idle quality improves, replace the e.g.r. valve.
Good Luck.

Sorry man, the EGR in this case should not cause the vehicle not to start. You got to check for spark and fuel. Remove the air filter cover and get someone to crank the vehicle while observing the fuel spray thru the injector. Is there spray? Then check for spark at the spark plugs. Let us know and we will go from there. Check all the fuses.
One more thing, with the ignition on, is the check engine light on?

Re: ERG gases not working, check vacuum!?!?!?

i have checked for spark. there is none. i guess i should have said all this in the begining. anyways, thanks again. we have changed plugs, wires, and destributive rotter. still no spark. we even switched out the "cillinoid?" (goes from there to distributor cap.) anyways, no spark. the check engine light does come on, and acording to what i could find flashes code 32, which talks about the ERG, which i aformentioned, so that is why i brought it up first. what do you think? i wil also check for gas spray. thanks for all your help!!! the car turns over nicely, but just sounds like it has nowhere to go, like it doesn't catch.

You did a good job checking the vehicle out. If the check engine light is on but you have no spark, replace the distributor pickup assembly that is below the distributor rotor.
I'm watching this post. Keep us informed.
