What engine to buy??? So many choices??
Ok guys i know there are options out there for new engines for my 97Gs-t but i want the engine that i can get the most out of. i heard the 4g64 is a great option but i dont know if it falls within my budget. I heard going with the 1G 4g63 is the best option because of the crankwalk problem in the 2g? is this true? my goal is a 11 sec Gs-T! what engine can get me this? tanx

The motor you have will get you there.

Re: What engine to buy??? So many choices??
Yes, either the 6 bolt or 7 bolt will do it. If you are worried about crankwalk, go for a built 6 bolt. If you want to get serious, you can stroke the 2.0 to a 2.3 by using the 2.4 liter crank. And you can use the 2.4 liter, the information on how to make it work with the 4g63 head is out there. More displacement is good, but to take advantage of it you really need to gear your setup specifically towards it. It all depends on how far you want to take it. Either way you have to consider things like DSMlink since all options require the 1g CAS, etc.

Re: Re: What engine to buy??? So many choices??
ya, why do you need a new motor to begin with? pick up the new modified magazine. look at the DSM Tuning section. they got a 95 talon tsi [4g63t]that they got up to 540 something whp!!! and that is on stock internals!!!!! they have other bolt-on's to support it, of course. the question is why would you want to spend money on a new engine when you can make your existing engine a super monster?

Re: What engine to buy??? So many choices??
Modified Mag... ok, i made a slight mistake, it was an EVO VIII, and it was 525whp [that's over 600 in the engine] on race gas and stock internals. not that that matters, it's still a 4g63. i read the whole thing this morning, and it got jumbled... my bad... still proves the point about the capabilities of the 4g63...

Re: What engine to buy??? So many choices??
525 on stock internals is nothing new. But its all about how often you pan to make that power, and how reliable you need it to be
![]() 4g64 came in soe galants and other cars. Its the same block casting as the 4g63 (4g is the family), but bored 1mm over (040) and has a crank with a 12mm longer stroke (100mm vs 88)
