I have a 97 Grand Caravan 3.8 that drives great but has lifter noise. You rarely here it at idle or when you drive it normal but it gets loud after 2800 RPM and up if you rev it up to pass someone or push the motor harder than normal. I took it to a few shops and they all told me it sounds like a lifter or a push rod. I wanted to know if this is common problem for these motors and how easy is it to do it myself. In the manual it says to remove the head to change the lifters but the mechanics I talk to say you don't need to do that. Just remove the intake. If anyone that has gone through this headache and can give me some insight and advice i would aprreciate it.
