Rev Limiter 1999 Suburban
I have a previously owned K1500 4WD. Earlier owner experienced knocking sound from engine and loss of power. He thought he threw a rod. Engine runs fine now, however.
I understand that this engine has a limiter. How does it work? When you rev to high as if stuck in the mud, would this limiter keep you from throwing a rod? I think it does and this may have been causing the knocking and loss of power. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks Skarytoes |

Re: Rev Limiter 1999 Suburban
a knocking sound would engage the knock sensor and retard the spark timing. hence loss of power. under higher power maybe he had a lifter rap which the sensor would pik up.add seafoam to your oil to clean up varnish and see if that helps.
