1994 G.A.- need Computer?

HELP!

I got this 94 Grand Am from my mother. She had a stroke an dit sat idle for about 1.5 years. With a new battery it would try to crank but wouldn't. The mechanic replaced the battery, engine head, spark plugs, wires, and timing chain. It still won't run. He says it may need a new computer. How can I tell? When put the key in to try to I crank it, there is a distant bing bing bing but no lights come on. When I turn the key there is nothing. It has a new battery, like I said. What could it be? How can I tell if it is the computer and if it is- where is it? A girl at Advance said she did hers herself (replace the computer, that is.) I can't find any onfo on how to get to it. All I guess is that it's under the passenger side dash.

Any suggestion, leads and info would really help!

nope the computer is on the fire wall about the center has 3 or 4 little bolts holding it in un do the wires that lead to it don't get then mixed up then un do the bolts it just sides out but don't get a new comp for a junk yard you can never trust them but the not statering might be the starter did you check that or the wires that lad to the started beacuse if the starter is not wired right then it will not roll over
