Can anyone identify this?

Its a valve on my firewall, has two vacuum lines that go to it, one from the manifold. Has a few cables that run to a plug on the headight support pannel. It has a knob on top that allows it to be adjusted, i have no idea what it adjusts or does.

Hey man i think the valve you are talking about is the M.A.P sensor ( mass air flow ) if its on the fire wall and there are two vacuum lines going to it thats what it is

i would think that if you went to a mechanic and asked if they wouldnt mind taking a look at it they could identify it. if not ask to check out one other shop manuals if they have any lying around. i know if i went to my normal shop they would help me out for a couple minutes or let me browse their books, but i dont know about just some random place.
