Re: insurance high?

well, depends on the color, area you live in, how much it is going to be driven, ect. ect. im 20, have three speeding tickets, and a 350 equiped 89 IROC. my insurance is around 2200 a year. but i live near D.C. (high risk city location) have three tickets, and its my daily driver. so if youlive in the country, good record (so far) and drive it less, your insurance should be a little less.

My advice for you is to shop around. Don't just go to the first place you come to cause not every place is going to be the same. For my 95 Z28 the majority of the places I went to all wanted around 200 a month for full coverage and finnally found one at state farm for $98 a month. One place wouldn't even cover me until I get insurance with someone else for at least a year and prove to them I can drive this car without killing myself or anyone around me. By the way I'm 30 with a spotless record. Don't know how in the hell that happened. But with this car and my foot I don't know how long this will last. Anyway my point I think was to shop around.

Re: insurance high?

Definately shop around. I'm just coming off of my family's car insurance plan, where I paid $700 every six months, and I wasn't the "known" fulltime driver on my SS. Having shopped around a bit, Progressive will give me full insurance, 100/300, etc. for 598 every six months. This is with no points on my license, no wrecks or tickets ever, and I'm 23. Some places wanted as much as 2100 for my insurance every six months. That's why you need to shop around...

Re: insurance high?

I'd say, as a 16 year old, you are going to have a lot of trouble even getting an insurance company to accept you if you are trying to ensure a v8. If they do decide to accept I'm thinkin it would be close to $3,000 a year or more.

If you went with a sixer, you'll prolly look at about $1800 a year, and that's if they will even ensure 16 year olds...

Re: insurance high?

I just saved a bundle of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico.

Re: insurance high?

Get on your folks plan. Here's what you do..it's what I did. Have your folks, well one of them, sign the title, have it registered in there name, them put the car on there plan and then you added to the plan as a secondary driver on all vehicles. You'll save a ton and a half.
