buy high mileage 1997 avalon?

I am shopping for a used car and was looking at older avalons and camrys. I found a nice 1997 avalon, but it has 137,000 miles. I plan to have mechanic check it, but assuming there are no major problems, would you think this car still has a lot of miles in it , or would the mileage scare you off? He's asking $6500. thanks for any thoughts on this.

It should be a pretty good car for you an avalon with 200,000 miles would probably be more reliable that a brand new dodge intrepid
