suspention questions
Okay, last week I installed my new KYB GR2's with KYB boots and it seems that the ride stiffened up substantialy (sp). If anyone knows why any help would be great (jackasssi)
. Is it because the bump stops may be stiffer?

It's the shocks. I have the same shocks, and my ride is nice and stiff. It's great.

Re: Re: suspention questions
GR2 has a slightly stiffer valve rating, as do all "performance" shocks struts. You will feel more of the road, which allows you to feel the car better. Can't drive a car at or near it's limits guessing what it's doing.
Drive normal for the first 500-750 miles, then see how you like them. What springs & how low? Bump stops won't affect ride quality, they are there to prevent the suspension from bottoming out during travel. They should be cut in 1/2 when lowering(shorter) |

Re: suspention questions
I have the R1 racing coilovers on the lowest setting. I didn't cut the bump stops though.

Re: suspention questions
By lowest setting you mean that its lowered as far down as the coilovers can go? If so, the suspension has less room to travel so of course its going to stiffen up. By the way....like your exhaust...I have mine done up the same way but my cat leaks like crazy.

Re: Re: suspention questions
I dont recommend going lower than 2" on GR2's, it's also a good idea to break-in the struts using a minimal drop, say 1.5" max. You really should cut the bump stops to increase travel & less likely to bottom out on the bump stops, better the b/stops then metal to metal. That could actually injur a passenger.
Remember KYB's are stock length struts/shocks/dampers what ever the hell you want to call them. Here's what happens when lowering: ![]() Bump stops take up some of the compression travel! |
