Exhaust question (heat/flow)

I just had to sell my civic for a "family car" and I had an old exhaust tip left over that just happen to fit onto the subaru tailpipe.

There were just 2 things that concerned me and although it isn't exactly a civic question, I know I can get some respones here (subaru forum is dead)

1. It is a dual tip bolt on style and picture this if you will...the boring, stock subaru pipe comes out and is cut at an angle to almost point downward... I was concerned that by putting the tip on, it would restrict flow since the pipe points downward but the tip fits on straight ahead. The exhaust is expelled downward but is then propelled out after being split into the 2 sides of the tip. It seems as if it will restrict the flow a little. Will I hurt anything by having this on?

2. There is about a 1/4 inch gap between the metal from the tip and my rear bumper. Of course, the tip gets pretty hot, do you think I am in danger of ruining the paint or bumper? I see alot of cars out there with the pipes coming pretty close to the plastic so I am guessing it won't be too much of an issue as long as it is not touching, but then I also wonder if the tip would become hotter than normal due to any restricted air flow.

Just curious...I didn't want to mess up the new car. Thanks

I put it on last night and drove with it all day today and so far so good. I mean it gets really hot (like any exhaust does) But I just did not want to melt the bumper off a new car you know?
