I asked fellow mods the question and got a response from Igor (the administrator)

Attachments have to be stored on the same server that vB is run off of, which is a bad idea considering the load we're putting on the server already.

Thanks for the reply. What I would like to be able to do is attach pictures to posts as many of the members already do. How can I do that? Simply upload a picture into a posting, not just in the Gallery! Fred

What message below? That attachments are disabled? If thats the one, then yes they are and they are not coming back. The member gallery took its place. If its some other message, let us know.
