Whining noise when shift into first (while rolling)

When performing a 'rolling stop'...I downshift to first and i get a whining noise when I start letting off the clutch (i am assuming the noise is coming from the trans...if i push the clutch back in it stops...let it back out and the noise is gone).

I also have a problem getting it in gear...not really a problem getting it in but, it is choppy. Almost like it sticks...(maybe bushings?)

I am pretty sure that it is time to change the clutch...but do I maybe have a syncro problem, too?

Most manual transmissions wont let u go back into first gear after it has been taken out of first, until you COMPLETELY stop. I know my tranny wont let me in first to i stop completely. i can force it into first, and I get the same noise. I know my old am used to do that, im not sure, but is that the synchros or sumtin speeding up?

The whining noise are the syncros getting the gears up to speed so when you let out the clutch, they don't grind each other up because of different speeds. The whining noise is bad, your syncros shouldn't have to be working that hard.

Right about most manuals not liking it back in 1st until you're stopped, but also right about the synchros. Does it make the sound downshifting into 2nd? Mine does, quite loudly... and even a little in 3rd. I get it nastily if I downshift to 1st (mine allows me to at low speeds). But then again, I've got a 1985 JDM CRX that's done a lot of klicks and is kinda tired. But I know of a lot of Honda engines that sound rough as dogs... but there's really not a lot wrong with them. My CRX hasn't had a problem while I've had it.

Talking

I have a hrsh whine everyonce in awhile when I'm shifting from 1st to 2nd. In my case I think that it's the trans wearing. I might say that it's the syncro's for you...But could be wrong and it be the trans as well..
