picked up a 1:24th tool kit for display...

will be setting up a display and taking photos of it tomorrow .. but the kit was cheaply priced at walmart ... it is in their motorworks line .. has a roll away tool chest, floor jack, air tank, engine lift .. and a V8 engine along with a fuel cansiter (it is for a nascar setup but most all of the peices would work great in any model display) ...

Re: picked up a 1:24th tool kit for display...

it is a good quality set ... i am going back tomorrow and picking up the other set .. that comes with a dolley .. 4 jack stands .. a stack of racing wheels and tires (nascar style) and a larger 'pro' roll around tool box ... then will have a full shop setup that is only missing an engine stand and one or two other small peices (maybe a larger air compressor) ... for the price tho (about $6) it is worth it .. just happened to glance over and see them while browsing the new jada models.

Re: picked up a 1:24th tool kit for display...

Walmart rocks! It's one of the only places around here that carries modeling kits and supplies at a nice price. Walmart's price on Testors spray paint is over a dollar a can cheaper than at HobbyTown. Right now, the shelves are being restocked with model kits, they've been almost empty since before Christmas. I have 4 Walmarts within a 15m drive from where I live.

I have noticed (hold the flamethrowers boys) that the Walmarts in the lower income areas have way more models on the shelves than in the middle-upper income hoods.

I remember as a kid (30+ years ago) the local toystore had WALLS of model kits. Now with Toy's r Us and KBee and even Walmart, you are lucky if there are 2 models on the 3 shelves with one of the boxes open and missing parts. (milage may vary.)

Opps! Sorry, KBees (sp) doesn't even have models...

it was over in the toy car section around the larger scale cars ...

------------

heh the walmart in my town has an end cap filled with paint .. and then 3 or 4 models scattered around in the toy section and thats it ... they won't carry many because they say that the kits don't sell well in town (BS there are about 10 of us that build em and more would as well if they carried them) ... we travel 30 min to walmarts in other towns to pick out our kits .. or order online ...

fixing to make a quick setup with one of my diecast models (yeah i put it together) ... to show off this kit with a pic .. should have it posted in an hour or two ... it is great if you like to do a shop or trackside type display ...

oh, the comment on the model selection VS location and demographics is quite true .. plus at the lower level places you can also find older kits still stuffed on the shelves...

There was a half dozen at TrU the week before Christmas. I will look today and see if anything has changed much.

I found a HobbyTown that had a couple isles of auto models, 1 isle of planes and ships and a coulpe isles of 'off the wall' models and supplies. It's a pretty good store with a cool staff.

Re: picked up a 1:24th tool kit for display...

there is 2 kits that i have seen .. the one pictured .. and then one that has a larger toolbox and 4 jackstands and a dolly with 4 slicks stacked on it...

they are Motorworks brand which is done by Wal-mart ... the only other company name on the box is Atlas .. but not for sure if they are the ones that make it and it is repackaged or what ... havent found them yet while doing a search online.

Meh. I went and saw it today and it was $9+ at my walmart. Yours was $6? or the other one (which I didn't see) was going to be $6?

I'd'a paid six but not nine. I'm cheap that way...

They didn't have the subaru transformer either.
