do you mean the backlighting or the gauges and indicators?

I can only read the mileage. Backlighting is gone -- I cannot read tach or speedometer

If you don't have any backlights for your heater controls or radio then it's gotta be a fuse or such.. let me know and I'll look up the fuse number for you (It's one under the dash)

Thanks,

Your exactly right -- no backlights -- I thought that all the fuses were under the hood on the drivers side.

Jim, I lost all my gauges on Sunday. I changed the fuse and that didnt help. This morning as I turn the key I heard some load clicking noises from under the dash, there was barely enough juice left to turn the engine over but all my gauges came back and now its fine.
Once my car is running I can remove the key, so something is not right with the ignition, unless I hear otherwise I will pass it off as an ignition problem or perhaps the result of the subzero weather.

Scott,

That's not my problem, but I hope that's not next. Do you which fuse you changed? The exact label? I have checked the fuse/relay box under the hood and I cannot determine from the list which one is for the backlights.

Jim, on my 99 the second or third one from the left is clearly labelled gauges.
- I read somewhere else on this board or another, somebody else was having troubles like these and found it was caused by a loose battery connection. I guess if there is not enough 'juice" some of these things will cut out.
- Seeing as my problems came and went with the extreme cold that is probably the cause, I just went out and looked at the battery indicator and it reads "low charge". I will put a new one in tonight and see what happens later this week when its 10 below.

Steve, in my 2000 grand caravan the fuses are in a box under the hood and no there is no fuse listed as guages. The battery is fine and all cables are connected tight. Thanks any way. I do appreciate you concern.

Mine has fuses under the hood too, but the interior fuses are inside, just below where the parking brake release is. Pop the panel and there will probably be 13-15 fuses, mine are all clearly labelled.

Check Out Haynes Manual for 2000 Caravan

Gentlemen,

I just bought a used 2000 Caravan. So far so good. The first thing I did was order the Haynes manual from Amazon.com.

Alot of questions/concerns are addressed by the manual. Check it out.

Good luck!
