IMO,Get a 240 sx. Tons of potential, and for 7k you should be abole to afford some parts on top of the vehicle as well. Shoot, I have seen some with the SR swap complete for around that.

Good luck

I'd go for a japanese import like a skyline or maybe a supra. I've personally had 4cylinders, v6's and have a Z28 V8. ALthough i love my Z28 i have to say it is costly to drive in terms of fuel consumption and the standard V6 didn't have the power i was looking for. thats why I'd go with a turbo skyliner or supra since they have pretty good performance and should have good fuel consumption since they're 6cylinder engines. BTW, my V8 camaro smokes those skylines but I'm sure it would be cheaper if you wanted to upgrade a jap car than upgrading a V8, which is another reason why i suggest the jap cars. Test drive as many cars as you can before choosing one, thast probably the best advice of all.

Hey Zwrangler, please tell me where the hell you could find a Skyline or Supra for under $7000? Personally I'd agree with matada. I think the 240 looks fairly good and has performance with a good amount of aftermarket support. Just pick up a car sale magazine and see what you like. I think you can find a nice 300ZX not twin turbo though. It's a favourite car of mine.

Re: Wut is a cheap car that is easy to upgrade

i saw a old supra i could have gotten for around a grand but it had cracked head gasket and maybe another problem, they are cheap if you find the right ones at the right place, but of course none of you people like the older style cars...

i would say a jetta 1.8t. the 1.8t is fantastic, and there is a huge aftermarket for it (think gt28rs/gt30r). for $4.5-5g you can get it, and if you put another $4.5g into it you can be running mid-12s. not bad for under $10g. If you dont want a jetta, go for a 97-99 eclipse which you can get for less than $4g. visit dsmtuners.com for some info about that

i agree with partizan about the 300zx (as you can tell by my signature). i'm getting one for 5,500. but one thing that is going to hurt me, dont know bout you, is the insurance. it will probably be twice the car payment.

Re: Wut is a cheap car that is easy to upgrade

If you want a cheap initial investment on the car and good performance results for fairly small investments, get any fairly light RWD car with either a v8 or a turbocharged 4 banger.

Mustang, Camaro, 240sx, just to name a few.

Mustang 5.0s dont need much to run 12's reliably. Heads, cam, intake, exhaust you should be there.

Re: Wut is a cheap car that is easy to upgrade

heads, cam, intake, and exhaust is expensive, at least for my budget. those mods would probably add to more than $1500 for good brands.
