6x9 Speakers

Will 6x9 Speakers fit in the rear deck of a 94 g20t?

From my understanding (and I may be speaking out of my @ss) but you will have to make some modifications to get 6x9's to fit...

a.k.a. drilling and maybe more

they won't fit, you'd have to cut out a biger hole in the deck.

I HAD KENWOOD EXCELON 6X9'S IN MY REAR DECK. THE LABOR INVOLVED IS MINIMAL. ALL YOU HAVE TO DOIS DRILL A HOLE THAT WILL LET IT FIT IN NICE(TRACE IT). THEY SOUNDED GREAT UNTIL THEY WERE ROBBED.

you have to cut the metal in the rear deck to make them fit...also you need to cut the piece of material that is the rear deck to make the new grills fit..

or you can get spacers like other people are sayin...I've seen some ugly lookin spacers though.

I don't think its worth it to replace your 6.75's with 6X9's. I don't think 6X9's sound much better than the stock size.

I think the 6x9 's are worth it.

I find more powerful 6x9's than stock. I'm talking over 500 watts.

I went with stock size, but a sales person told me that it's easier to blow out a 6 1/2" round than a 6x9" But what difference does it make so long as you know what your limitations are and don't surpass them???

I went with a 6.5i speaker and it fit perfect. I have a kappa perfect 12.1 sub in the trunk, so I didn't need any more sound out of the rear speakers. As long as you don't overpower (or underpower too, i guess) the speakers, you'll be fine. For me, the 6.5/sub combo works great. I guess if you were to not go with a sub, then the 6x9's would be a better choice, but i went the other way, so I didn't have to cut up my car.

500W? The thing that people worry too much about is pleasing everyone else. In my old '91, I had approx. 700W+ and had no problems with the 61/2's. What I mean about pleasing everyone else is, why put coaxials in the rear? Highs in the rear is a waste for higher powered systems if you ask me. As it stands right now in my '96; I have all the speakers (highs) phased towards the drivers seat. It sucks that you spend all that money and have to compensate for passengers. My POV is that I'm the one that spent $3500-4000 on a system, GOD DAMN it I'm going to enjoy it the most. To get the best clarity in most cars you'd have to sit in the middle, that sucks. I located the tweets in the upper nearest corner of the door speaker grill (the best I could get to equal length without a QForm or aiming the tweet in some weird position) ; but they are aimed towards the driver. I have 4x6 Kappa coaxials in the front along with the XO'd 60.2 Kappa tweet in the front (playing at different spectrums of course), 4 Kappa 61/2's in the rear, 1 JL Audio 10W6 (formerly 3) in the trunk all hooked up to 2 ZX series PG amps. With the proper tuning, it's really clean sounding for an all street application. Like I mentioned, I bought it not you. BTW, my 5.6" LCD is also facing towards the driver. I mean really, think about it....you worked your ass off to get this.

This is just a comment, but if it's going to cost you a whole lot more to get the 6x9's and you plan get a BIG system why do it. 6x9's are killer if that's the major dependent for lower notes. It's all up to you though, but considering either the spacers (yuck in my opinion not cosmetically sound) or cutting that's involved, I see no need.
